What is Community Education?

Community Education is an opportunity for citizens, schools, agencies and businesses to become active partners in meeting the educational and recreational needs of their community. It most often is known for its classes and activities held in local schools. Community Education is a life long process, a process in which everyone in the community needs to be involved.

History and Mission

Battle Ground Community Education was established in 1975 as a partnership between the school district, city government and several other organizations to offer educational and recreational activities to adults and youth in the greater Battle Ground area. Today, Battle Ground Community Education is a department of Battle Ground School District with the responsibility of linking schools and community through offering educational and recreational activities. Last year, Battle Ground Community Education had 9,300+ registrants, organized 1,400+ camps, classes and teams and made it possible for people of all ages, to EXPLORE lifelong learning, promote creativity, gain knowledge and lead healthy active lives.

Individual classes and activities are supported by user fees.
