3rd and 4th grade 'Future Chefs' win awards for their culinary creations

March 24, 2017


Third and fourth grade students from all across the district competed in Sodexo's annual Future Chefs Challenge event on Wednesday, March 22 at Prairie High School. The students demonstrated their creative culinary skills by coming up with an original, healthy after school snack recipe, which they prepared and presented to a panel of judges. This year's judges were Catering Manager Robin Boespflug and Regional Chef Dave Williams, who evaluated students' entires based on criteria such as originality and taste.

Congratulations to the winning entries from this year's event:



Pleasant Valley Primary 4th grader 
Beau Singer 
was the 
Grand Prize Winner for his "Tuna Stuffed 
By winning the grand prize, Beau's entry 
will be 
considered for regional finalist awards, and the 
selected 
regional finalists will vie to become one of five 
national 
finalists competing for the public’s vote on a special 
Future 
Chefs YouTube channel.

won the Kid-friendly and Easy Prep award for her 




Captain Strong Primary 3rd grader Garrett Cawse won
the Judges' Choice award for his "Creamy Chicken Noodle Casserole." 













Yacolt Primary 4th grader Gracie Veach won the 
Healthy Attributes award for her "Veggie Bars." 




Tukes Valley Primary 3rd grader Ayla Mitchell 
won 
the Best Use of Ingredients/Originality award
