Prairie High School Assistant Principal wins Administrator of the Year Award

March 6, 2014

Battle Ground, WA – Prairie High School Assistant Principal Dora Swart was recently named Administrator of the Year by the Washington School Counselor Association (WSCA).

“Dora is a valued member of the Counseling Team,” said Dr. Cher Edwards, WSCA president. “She is a strong leader and has been a huge part of the school’s effort to implement the American School Counselor Association’s national model.”  The purpose of the WSCA Administrator of the Year Award is to recognize a supervisor whose leadership and outstanding services have had a positive impact on the guidance and counseling field on a local or state level.

“I’m so proud to have nominated Dora for this award,” said Steve Rhodes, Prairie High School’s Counseling Department Chair. “She is an excellent administrator and a real asset to our program.”

Ms. Swart has been working in education for over 30 years and been supporting Prairie High School for the past nine years. She currently oversees four Guidance Counselors and one Career Counselor. “My goal for our counselors this year

is getting them more involved in student engagement,” said Swart.

“Our counselors are working more with parents and spending more time observing their students in the classroom; giving them the information they need to provide the best support possible for student success.”
