BGHS alumni invited to Homecoming 'tailgate party'

September 23, 2013

Homecoming at Battle Ground High School Oct. 4 will have a different look – and a different mission -- this year.  Alumni and their families are encouraged to come for a non-alcoholic pre-game “tailgating party” prior to the football game against Evergreen.

Games, face painting, free popcorn, T-shirt sales plus music, mingling and memories are among the attractions planned for the school’s north parking lot from 5 p.m. until kickoff at 7 p.m.

Participants are welcome to bring and enjoy non-alcoholic “tailgating” dinners and set up tables and chairs outside their vehicles.

Among the activities and supporters lined up by BGSD student leaders:

--   An “alumni tent” in the parking lot as a gathering place for former Tigers. Mill Creek Pub gift cards ($5 value) will go to the first 50 people who check in at the tent.

--    BGHS Boosters, who will be providing freebies and optional purchases

--    U.S. Army, with games and challenges for kids

--    iQ Credit Union, with free popcorn

--    BGHS Student Council

--    “Spirit Station,” with face painting and hair spray by ASB leadership students

“The students want to make it fun for everyone,” said Dawn Pack, a school counselor. “We’d love to see plenty of alumni that night, but the event is intended as a social gathering for the whole community.”
