A team of school district counselors
was at the school this afternoon to meet with any students or staffers wishing
to discuss David’s death. The counselors will be back at the school all day
Friday.
Perhaps because of the
rural-but-close-knit nature of the district and its residents, the loss of a
student or employee is deeply felt throughout Battle Ground Public Schools. Our
thoughts and prayers are with David’s family and many friends, at school and
beyond.

The letter from Tim Lexow is
attached, as is the message titled “Adolescent Response to the Unexpected Death
of a Peer,” which was printed on the back of Mr. Lexow’s
letter.

Here is the text of a message that
teachers read to students in class:
“Students, we
have some sad news to share with you this
afternoon.
“One of our
students, David Suetta, 11th grade, died this morning off
campus.
“A death is
always difficult to understand.
“Counselors will
be available in our safe rooms the rest of the school day and all day tomorrow
to offer assistance.
“As soon as we
have more information, we will let you know.”
