Middle and high school students who like to use their imagination and create
things that make a difference to society are invited to a special
event at Clark College on March 3.

“Science in Action” will feature hands-on activities in
science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) led by Clark College
professors.  The goal is to engage students who are interested in these
classes and fields.  The event is sponsored by the Clark College
N.E.R.D. (Not Even Remotely Dorky) Girls Club.

The event will be at Clark College’s
main campus on Saturday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Clark
College is at 1933 Fort Vancouver
Way, Vancouver.
Driving directions and parking maps are available at
www.clark.edu/maps.

The event is free, but those wishing to
participate must register by Feb. 25.  To register or for more
information, write to
nerdgirls.clark@gmail.com. No
registration required to observe.

Participants are encouraged to bring a sack
lunch.  Parents are also encouraged to attend.

Following an opening session in Clark’s Gaiser Student
Center, interactive
activities will be held in Joan Stout Hall and Anna Pechanic Hall.

At 2 p.m., participants will return to the Gaiser Student
Center to hear from keynote speaker
Peg Bohan, a ranger for the U.S.
Forest Service at Mount St.
Helens National Volcanic Monument.
Bohan, who has a degree in geology, has worked as a ranger for 10 years,
serving at national parks including Yellowstone, Hawaii Volcanoes National
Park, and the Grand Canyon, where she personally conducted a tour for President
and Mrs. Obama.
