April 2024 Employee Recognition Awards

The Employee Recognition Awards highlight staff members who embody the district’s values and commitment to student learning. Nominations are open to every staff member in Battle Ground Public Schools. The selection criteria include commitment to the district’s mission, contribution to a safe environment, support for high-quality instruction and collaborative behavior demonstrating trust and respect. Congratulations to the April Employee Recognition Award recipients!

Amy Gustin, support staff, print shop
Amy led the complex implementation of a new coil-binding printer production system, significantly enhancing our curriculum projects. Her efforts included meticulous planning, cost analysis and vendor negotiations, resulting in notable savings and improved resource flexibility. Despite challenges during installation, Amy’s unwavering positivity and commitment ensured that educators were equipped with essential materials for the 2023-24 school year. Her initiative and perseverance have made a significant impact, demonstrating her invaluable contribution to the district.

Melissa Kennedy, teacher, Pleasant Valley Primary School
Melissa Kennedy has shown exceptional dedication to her students. Melissa’s unique ability to match her students’ energy and connect deeply with them has transformed the educational environment. Implementing effective strategies in her classroom, she has notably assisted students with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and social-emotional challenges. Her approach has led to decreased behavioral issues and reduced medication needs for students. Melissa’s commitment ensures every student feels valued and understood.

Amy Pace, teacher, Pleasant Valley Middle School
Amy Pace is a cornerstone of Pleasant Valley Middle School. For over 15 years, Amy has not only excelled as a dedicated sixth grade teacher but also led the transformative annual Outdoor School event, meticulously organizing every detail to ensure a memorable experience for students. Additionally, Amy coordinates all school holiday events, leads the Associated Student Body and supports sports teams as a volunteer coach. Her commitment extends beyond the classroom, enriching the community and making a lasting impact.

Lindsay Ross, nurse, Captain Strong Primary, Chief Umtuch Middle School and CAM Academy
Lindsay Ross is a vital member of the school nursing team. She exemplifies dedication to student health and safety and has gracefully managed significant challenges, ensuring comprehensive care for students with both chronic and newly diagnosed conditions. Her proactive efforts prepared students for Outdoor School and established a welcoming space at CAM Academy. Lindsay’s professionalism and advocacy ensure that all students receive the best possible care at school. She is indeed an invaluable asset to the district.
