Battle Ground school events honor veterans

Battle Ground Public Schools’ students and staff will honor veterans during school events, including assemblies and a panel for high school students. Community members and veterans are invited to attend. Schools will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. 

Events will be held at:

Primary SchoolsCaptain Strong Primary students greet veterans

Captain Strong Primary: The school will be hosting a breakfast for veterans at 8:40 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, followed by a school-wide assembly at 9:30 a.m..
Daybreak Primary: Assembly on Friday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. in the cafeteria. Primary students will sing songs in honor of veterans.
Glenwood Heights Primary: Two assemblies will be held on Friday, Nov. 15 at 9:30 and 10:25 a.m.
Maple Grove Primary: Two assemblies will be held in the gym on Friday, Nov. 8 at 9:20 and 10:20 a.m.
Pleasant Valley Primary: Assembly on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the gym.
Yacolt Primary: On Friday, Nov. 8, 4th grade choir students will perform at an assembly in the school gym 10 a.m.   

Middle Schools

Amboy Middle School: Assembly on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 8:50 a.m. in the gym featuring guest speakers, a slideshow, and performances from the school band.
Chief Umtuch Middle: Assembly on Friday, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m.
Daybreak Middle: Assembly on Friday, Nov. 8 at 8 a.m. in the school gym.
Laurin Middle: Assembly on Friday, Nov. 8 at 8:20 a.m. in the school gym.
Pleasant Valley Middle: Assembly on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. in the school gym.
Tukes Valley Middle: Assembly on Friday, Nov. 8, at 9:30 a.m. There will be a guest speaker and a presentation on the Sons of the American Revolution.

High Schools BGHS students listen to a guest speaker talking about WWII

Battle Ground High School: Veterans Day panel for students on Friday, Nov. 8 in the library. Hosted by the Air Force Junior ROTC and the History/Social Studies departments, the panels will comprise veterans from all military branches and be representative of several different eras. The panelists will make a short biographical presentation to each class period throughout the day, and the invited classes will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists. Due to space limitations, please contact the school for more information about attending.
Prairie High School: Two assemblies will be held on Friday, Nov. 8 at 8:55 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. in the auditorium. The Prairie High School Air Force JROTC will be presenting.

Alternative Schools

CAM Academy: An assembly featuring a guest speaker and musical performances from third graders will be held on Friday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Baptist Church across the parking lot from CAM.
