Rachelle Simmons is the new assistant principal at Daybreak Middle School. Before joining DBM, Simmons was an eighth grade math and algebra teacher in the Longview School District. She takes over for Justin Pierce, who is now the assistant principal at Chief Umtuch Middle School.

We asked Rachelle to tell us some things that people might not know about her. Check out her answers below and get to know a little more about your new assistant principal!

Do you have children of your own? What ages/grades are they in?
I have four children, ages 10 – boy (5th grade), 7 – girl (2nd grade), 4 – boy, and 6 months – girl.

Where did you grow up, and where did you go to school?
I grew up in Ridgefield. I went to Ridgefield schools, K-12. I attended the University of Washington, BA: Psychology. University of Phoenix, MA: Education. Capella University: PhD Candidate (I’m currently in the dissertation phase) and principal certificate. Program specialization: Leadership in Educational Administration.

If you were a superhero, which character would you be, and why?
Wonder Woman because she is powerful, peaceful, nurturing, compassionate, and has a strong conscience.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy practicing barre, running, gardening, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. My kids are very active in sports, and I coach my daughter’s and younger son’s soccer teams. I also lead my daughter’s Girl Scouts troop.
