Kindergarten FAQ

What does full-day kindergarten offer my child?

Battle Ground Public Schools offers full-day kindergarten at all its primary schools. Get more information about Kindergarten enrollment and orientations.

Many children benefit from a developmentally appropriate, full-day program, most notably in terms of early academic achievement – a foundation for school and life success. The full-day curriculum provides time to address literacy, math and other core content. Specialized instruction in art, music and health/fitness is also provided.

What are the requirements for kindergarten early entrance testing?

To be tested, students must turn 5 on or before September 30: No exceptions.

In addition, children must reside within the Battle Ground School District boundaries and be eligible to participate based upon assessment results.

Applications for early entrance testing are accepted until June 10, 2022. Testing for the 2022-2023 school year will take place in August.

Enrollment is determined by space availability at the primary school. Preschool is recommended but not required.

If you have more questions or are interested in having your child tested for early entrance, please contact the Aspire department at (360) 885-5455 or (360) 885-5426 or email aspire@battlegroundps.org.

WaKIDS has three components: family connection, whole-child assessment, and early learning collaboration. Please contact your school principal if you have questions about your child’s participation in WaKIDS.
