Provide your input on new social and emotional learning curriculum options

Nov. 14, 2022

Battle Ground Public Schools is evaluating new curriculum materials that will be used to teach students how to navigate their emotions, gain self-awareness, meet behavioral expectations, make good decisions and establish healthy connections to one another. Creating a safe and caring learning environment is a goal outlined in the district’s strategic plan.

Parents, guardians, staff and community members are invited to attend an open house to learn about the top four options and provide their input.

Open house: Social and emotional learning curriculum review
Monday, Nov. 28
2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (drop in anytime)
CASEE A conference room, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie, WA 98606

You can also review the options and provide feedback online.

Earlier this year, a committee of teachers, administrators and more staff members reviewed the options and selected the top four.

  • Committee for Children/Second Step
  • Character Strong
  • ACT
  • Harmony

Next step
Using the input provided by staff, families and the community, the committee will narrow the top four options to the top two. The top two curricula will be piloted in schools this winter and spring. Battle Ground Public Schools’ board of directors will vote on the curriculum in spring 2023.
