About Denny Waters
Superintendent Denny Waters has more than 30 years of experience in education. He first came to Battle Ground Public Schools in 2007 as an assistant principal of Battle Ground High School. Then in 2012 he moved to district office to serve as the executive director of Special Services. He became the district’s deputy superintendent in 2017. Before coming to Battle Ground, Denny worked in Evergreen and Hawaii public schools as a teacher and special education coordinator.
He has a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Hawaii, a master’s degree in Special Education and Administration from Lewis and Clark College, and superintendent credentials from Washington State University.
Denny was recognized in 2020 as the Robert J. Handy Most Effective Administrator in the state of Washington by the Washington Association of School Administrators. He was nominated for bringing Battle Ground district staff to a common goal of providing the best learning experiences for students.
Having lived within the district for 30 years, Denny is proud to call north Clark County home. His two children, Samantha and Chris, attended school in Yacolt and Amboy and graduated from Battle Ground High. His wife, Joan, works for an airline.
