Students in Mr.Fritz’s advanced culinary class (a Career and Technical Education class) recently transformed a donation of staple goods into a unique recipe that supported the food pantry at Battle Ground High School. A generous community member donated ingredients, including a case of pasta, tomato sauce, rice and tuna. The students were tasked with utilizing these core items to develop a recipe.
The class prepared four different dishes from the donated ingredients. To select the best one, they participated in a blind tasting and voted on their favorite. Once the winning recipe was chosen, donation funding was used to purchase necessary supplies, such as containers, supplemental food for the sauce, and parmesan for topping. The students packaged up over 200 meals to donate.
