Watch D.O.G.S. program comes to Tukes Valley Primary
Watch D.O.G.S., or Dads Of Great Students, is a program designed to give dads and father-figures opportunities to connect with students at school. It’s a simple yet powerful concept: Get dads involved in the school environment, making a difference in the lives of children.
Tukes Valley Primary held their inaugural Watch D.O.G.S. kickoff night on Thursday, Oct. 9. Former teacher and guest speaker Jim Fairchild talked about what it was like to be a "Top Dog" at Glenwood Heights Primary back in the 2010s. More than 325 people attended the event, a clear testament to the community's enthusiasm and desire for strong connections between home and school. As a result, every day in October and November has been filled with dads eager to lend a hand, and at least 75 signups were secured for the rest of the year!
The turnout highlighted the importance of dads volunteering at schools. They serve as role models for all children and reinforce the importance of education. Their involvement adds to the strong sense of community within the school and enhances a network of support that benefits everyone.
The success of Tukes Valley Primary's Watch D.O.G.S. program is a reminder that parental involvement can lead to great things for students, schools and the entire community.
Thank you to all the volunteers!
