Each year, the nonprofit Identity Clark County honors staff members and volunteers from school districts and higher education institutions across Southwest Washington. On May 20, 2025, Yacolt Primary teacher Daniela Alexakis and Tukes Valley Primary volunteer Olesea Neaga were recognized as Battle Ground Public Schools' Learn Here Heroes.
About Olesea
Olesea volunteers at Tukes Valley Primary every Monday, tutoring small groups of students in math. She helps students improve their knowledge by engaging them in fun activities and games. Olesea takes the extra time to get to know the students' strengths and areas for growth, and collaborates with the teacher on students' progress toward their goals. It's no wonder that students always return from her groups with a smile. Olesea is a vital part of the classroom community at Tukes.
Olesea also has an education background and is pursuing a master's degree in education. "My goal is to create a supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and fosters academic, social and emotional growth," she said. "I believe in nurturing a classroom culture that promotes exploration and development—where students are encouraged to realize their full potential through their own progress."
About Daniela
A health and fitness teacher, Daniela inspires students to be well-rounded, confident individuals. Her passion for student wellness is evident in the way she connects with each child, making PE a highlight of their day. Daniela’s creativity and commitment led her to establish the Yacolt Primary Running Club, which has encouraged students to be active, build confidence and strengthen their school community. During the 2024-25 school year, students logged more than 13,000 miles. She has created something truly special at Yacolt Primary, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
Congratulations to Daniela, Olesea and all of this year's Learn Here Heroes! And thank you to Identity Clark County and the local businesses supporting Southwest Washington education.
