Sex trafficking prevention lessons are designed to help high school students understand the warning signs and risk factors of sex trafficking, as well as learn safety strategies.
The curriculum will be expanded in the 2026-27 school year.
Washington state law requires public schools to teach students about this topic, with the goal of preventing sex trafficking through education.
See the lessons. The age-appropriate curriculum was chosen by a committee of high school teachers, adapted for Battle Ground Public Schools and is provided at no cost through the nonprofit Shared Hope International.
Parents and guardians will be able to opt their child out of instruction on sex trafficking prevention using Skyward Family Access. Directions will be emailed to them if they have a student in one of the participating classes.
Students who do not participate will receive an alternative lesson that does not address sex trafficking prevention.
