Thank you from Superintendent Denny Waters

Nov. 4, 2021

Dear Families and Community,

I am writing this evening to thank you for your support of our levy. As of today, with updated vote totals, the levy is passing with 53.7% of the vote. Given the small number of votes left to count, I am confident that the final outcome will be positive for us. This election shows that our community does indeed value education and cares deeply about the future success of our students. I am truly grateful.

I am excited that we can continue to provide student programs like art, music, high school sports and activities and that we will be adding middle school sports after a nearly 40-year absence in our district. That is huge. In addition, the passage of the levy secures financial stability for the district and ensures that we will be able to continue our efforts to meet our district goals of high quality instruction and strong social emotional support for students.

Please know that I am not overlooking the significant percentage of voters who did not support the levy. I hear your concerns and I promise I am listening. You have my commitment that we will continue our efforts to be transparent, to be open to input, to partner with you and to build strong coalitions that will strengthen our district and community for years to come. We are truly better working together!

I believe in Battle Ground Public Schools, and I believe that we can provide the type of educational experience that will meet the needs of all students and will make us all proud. This vote was an important first step. Thank you again!

Respectfully,

Denny

Denny Waters, Superintendent
Battle Ground Public Schools
