Prairie drama students present ‘Mean Girls: High School Version’

Feb. 20, 2024

Three high school drama students on stageCady Heron may have grown up on the African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois.

Adapted from Tina Fey’s hit 2004 film, the Mean Girls musical has been nominated for a staggering 12 Tony Awards. Now, Prairie High School’s drama program brings the high school version of the show to life starting Feb. 23, with six opportunities to come enjoy the music and fun.

“I’m so proud of this show and this company! We can’t wait to welcome you into the world of Mean Girls,” said Director Claire Verity.

Sing along as Cady takes on The Plastics, a trio of lionized “frenemies” led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. Cady and her friends devise a “revenge party” to end Regina’s reign, but soon realize you can’t take down a queen bee without getting stung.

Mean Girls: High School Version is performed by permission of MTI Shows, featuring lyrics by Nell Benjamin and music by Jeff Richmond.
