Battle Ground Public Schools welcomes public to Nov. 27 dedication of new CAM Academy campus

Battle Ground Public Schools invites the community to celebrate the new location of CAM Academy. This free event is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 27, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 406 NW 5th Ave., Battle Ground, Washington. Attendees can tour the campus and listen to remarks from students, staff and district officials. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 5 p.m. in the commons.

CAM Academy, an acronym for Character and Academics for the Marketplace, has been part of the district since 1996, previously operating from a leased building. In 2021, following the sale of that building, the district started looking for a new, permanent location for the program serving grades three through 12.

“They found a solution that kept us together and close to Battle Ground High School, where a lot of students attend programs or play sports,” said Hollie Amundson, president of the CAM Academy Parents group and parent of four students. 

The new campus enhances student security, accessibility, and science education with upgraded labs. Additionally, each classroom has customizable lighting and environmental controls. The school now features its own cafeteria, library and administrative offices.

“This is an exciting time for CAM Academy and the district as a whole,” said Superintendent Denny Waters. “Our facilities department did a fantastic job of bringing this all together under some very tight deadlines. We also appreciate the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction working with us to allow students to use the Lewisville building during construction of the new campus.”
