The talents of River HomeLink’s theater students will be on display March 25 and 26 in the beloved children’s story “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” The performances will be held in the Prairie High School Auditorium, and the play is produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company.

“I’m so excited for the students to have an opportunity to perform at Prairie,” director Sandy Sparks said. “It’s a great chance for them to work in a more professional environment and get that experience.”

“The Chronicles of Narnia” is a series of children’s books that follows the adventures of the Pevensie children who discover a hidden world beyond an eccentric professor’s wardrobe.

There will be four total performances:
Friday, March 25 at 3:45 and 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 26 at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.
(Doors open 30 minutes before showtime)

Prairie High School is located at 11311 NE 119th St., Vancouver, WA 98662. Tickets are $5 up to age 12, or $10 for everyone else. They can be purchased at the door (cash or check only) or by visiting the River HomeLink ASB office.

Narnia’s colorful cast of characters comes to life in part through the work of River HomeLink junior Rachel Prather, who has won awards for her costume designs. Sparks said Prather used a 3D printer to create the lion head for Aslan.

“She just does such incredible work, and this show really gives her a chance to shine,” Sparks said.

The school’s fall show took place in a tent set up outside Church of the Rock near the HomeLink campus. While transporting the props and costumes to the high school means more work, it’s also a chance for students to get experience on a real stage, with lighting, a sound system, and a roof over their heads.

“The students have worked so hard to put this show together,” Sparks said, “and we’re so excited to show off what we’ve been working on.”
