Update on collective bargaining
Aug. 25, 2023
Battle Ground Public Schools continues to negotiate with the Battle Ground Education Association, which represents the district’s classroom teachers and more certificated professionals. Both bargaining teams met today and traded proposals. Our latest proposal would increase entry-level pay and boost total compensation 16.5% above current levels over the next three years, including improvements in pay for additional duties (time, responsibility and incentive). As previously noted, our current proposal also would decrease caseloads.
Our board of directors and leadership team are committed to bargaining in good faith to provide staff with wages and benefits that are comparable to surrounding districts and within the capacity of the district’s budget.
We are hopeful that we will soon reach an agreement with BGEA. Bargaining sessions are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 26 and 27. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this process.
We will continue to provide information as it becomes available. In the meantime, please visit our collective bargaining webpage for more information.
