What you need to know about vaping among youth

Inhaling and exhaling the aerosol produced by an electronic vapor device, also known as vaping, carries health risks. Vaping products can include nicotine, chemicals, marijuana or other drugs that can affect students’ learning, attention and self-control. While most youth nationwide are choosing not to vape, we are concerned whenever a student chooses to use these products.

We want to help students make healthy choices. To help prevent and treat vaping, Battle Ground Public Schools’ prevention/intervention team provides classroom lessons, holds school-wide activities and offers individual and group support meetings. They work closely with security staff and school counselors, who address students’ social and emotional needs and connect them with mental health resources when needed. Partnerships with organizations such as Prevent Together: Battle Ground Prevention Alliance help students live drug-free lives and practice their leadership skills.

Learn more and find resources for teens, or contact your child’s counselor and/or prevention/intervention specialist. You can also learn about the latest research on addiction and brain development and what to do if your child is experimenting with drugs and/or alcohol at this free open house.

It is important to note that vaping is illegal for anyone under the age of 21, and used vape devices are considered by the state to be hazardous waste. A student who is seen vaping, or who is in possession of a vaping device, will at minimum need to be picked up by a parent, guardian or emergency contact person for the remainder of the school day. A student who has or is using a vaping device or any tobacco product at school or adjacent to school grounds is subject to discipline up to emergency removal/expulsion. Для профилактики и лечения вейпинга группа профилактики и вмешательства государственных школ Баттл Граунда проводит уроки в классе, общешкольные мероприятия и индивидуальные и групповые встречи. Они тесно сотрудничают с сотрудниками службы безопасности и школьными консультантами, которые удовлетворяют социальные и эмоциональные потребности учащихся и при необходимости связывают их с ресурсами для психического здоровья. Партнерство с такими организациями как “Prevent Together: Battle Ground Prevention Alliance” помогают учащимся вести жизнь, свободную от наркотиков, и работать над своими лидерскими качествами.

На бесплатном Дне открытых дверей вы также сможете узнать о последних исследованиях в области наркомании и развития мозга, а также о том, что делать, если ваш ребенок экспериментирует с наркотиками и/или алкоголем.

Важно отметить, что вейпинг запрещен лицам моложе 21 года, а использованные вейп-устройства рассматриваются штатом как опасные отходы. Учащегося, замеченного в курении или имеющего при себе устройство для курения, как минимум, должен экстренно забрать родитель, опекун или контактное лицо – на оставшуюся часть учебного дня. Учащийся, имеющий или использующий устройство для вейпинга или любое табачное изделие в школе или на прилегающей к школе территории, подвергнется дисциплинарному взысканию вплоть до экстренного удаления/исключения из школы. Lo que usted debe saber sobre el vapeo juvenil

Inhalar y exhalar el aerosol producido por un dispositivo electrónico de vapor, también conocido como vaping o fumar a vapor, conlleva riesgos para la salud. Los productos de fumar al vapor pueden contener nicotina, sustancias químicas, marihuana u otras drogas que pueden afectar al aprendizaje, la atención y el autocontrol de los estudiantes. Aunque la mayoría de los jóvenes de todo el país optan por no fumar al vapor, nos preocupa cada vez que un alumno decide usar esos productos.

Queremos ayudar a los estudiantes a tomar decisiones saludables. Para ayudar a prevenir y tratar el fumar a vapor, el equipo de prevención/intervención de las escuelas públicas de Battle Ground proporciona clases en el salón de clases, organiza actividades en toda la escuela y ofrece reuniones de apoyo individuales y en grupo. Trabajan en colaboración unida con el personal de seguridad y los consejeros escolares, que atienden las necesidades sociales y emocionales de los estudiantes y los ponen en contacto con recursos de salud mental cuando es necesario. Las asociaciones con organizaciones como Prevent Together: Battle Ground Prevention Alliance ayudan a los estudiantes a vivir sin drogas y a poner en práctica sus habilidades de liderazgo.

Es importante tener en cuenta que el fumar a vapor es ilegal para cualquier persona menor de 21 años de edad, y los dispositivos de fumar a vapor usados son considerados por el estado como residuos peligrosos. Un estudiante que es visto fumando, o que está en posesión de un dispositivo de fumar a vapor, por lo menos tendrá que ser recogido por uno de los padres, tutor o persona de contacto de emergencia para el resto del día. Un estudiante que tiene o está usando un dispositivo de fumar a vapor o cualquier producto de tabaco en la escuela o junto a los terrenos escolares está sujeto a la disciplina hasta el retiro de emergencia / expulsión.
